Malia Ebel, Library Director

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised in Woodstock, Vermont and Concord, New Hampshire, Malia graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University, where she competed in varsity tennis, track, and cross-country. Malia then obtained a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania and worked as a corporate lawyer in a practice focused on debt and equity finance at a large Boston law firm before realizing her true passion was for libraries.

After graduating from Simmons University with a M.L.I.S. degree, Malia worked as an Archivist and Reference Librarian at the New Hampshire Historical Society and then as the Library Director at Colby-Sawyer College before joining Abbott Library.

Malia lives in Sunapee with her family, which includes her son, their dogs, a pair of axolotls, and some chickens named John Wick. She still enjoys running and playing tennis and pickleball, and loves a good science fiction novel.

Justin Levesque, Assistant Library Director

Justin is thrilled to be back at Abbott Library after a period of professional experimentation that included stints at Dartmouth College’s Baker-Berry Library and New London’s Tracy Memorial. He feels right back at home and is looking forward to once again facilitating the book and film discussion groups and amplifying all that the Library has to offer as a space for community, open access, and empathy.

Justin dearly loves his Dostoevskian garret in Georges Mills and enjoys noodling on his acoustic guitar and serenading his ever-patient (long-suffering?) neighbors with deeply felt if technically unsound Replacements and Elliott Smith covers (yes, the Minneapolis Replacements, those beacons of impeccable proficiency and professionalism). His reading tastes run the gamut from 19th century Russian lit to speculative fiction to mangy music memoirs, and he looks forward to using and abusing his new/old position as Inter-Library Loan Jockey Extraordinaire.

Brittany Blomquist, Technology and Outreach Librarian
This is Brittany’s first time working in a library but she has always felt at home surrounded by books.
She is a NH native who received her BFA in Creative Writing from the New Hampshire Institute of Art (now part of New England College) and in currently enrolled in the MLIS program at Simmons University. She resides in Newport with her two rescue dogs.
In her free time she enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons, making pottery, and getting lost in a good fantasy series.

Kyler Wesner, Youth Services Librarian

Kyler recently moved back to New England from Colorado with his wife and dog. He has a B.A. in History from Southern Connecticut State University and an M.A. in Public History from Central Connecticut State University. Kyler started his library career as a library page at Douglas County Public Library in Colorado and is coming from Jefferson County Public Library where he was the Teen Librarian. He is excited to get to know the Abbott Library community!

In his spare time he loves going for hikes with his wife and dog, playing board games or video games, and is a big football fan. He loves reading horror and fantasy books.

Terri Rounds, Library Aide

Terri can often be found behind the circulation desk assisting patrons with a variety of services and requests. She is responsible for selecting our audio books, as well as processing and cataloging many materials and is also very good at pivoting where needed.  In her spare time, she dabbles in art and is learning how to play the fiddle.

Barbara Fitzgerald, Library Aide

Barbara brings much knowledge from her former job as a librarian in Massachusetts. She does most of the selecting for our adult fiction and non-fiction collections. Let her know if you would like her to order something!

Liz Moult, Library Aide Substitute

Liz is our fabulous sub who is always ready to do anything we ask her to do! She worked in both public and school libraries before retiring. If she isn’t working at the library, she’s probably traveling to see her grandchildren, skiing at Mount Sunapee or reading (of course!).

Brian Gebo, Custodian

Brian is the unseen hero of the library staff! He works during the library’s closed hours to keep the building looking clean and neat. One of his favorite movies is Hacksaw Ridge.
